Privacy Policy

1. Overview

RoastMyProfile.ai (“we”, “us”, “our”) is built on a simple privacy principle: we do not store your profile data. When you paste a LinkedIn profile into our tool, that text is sent to our AI model to generate a roast and is not stored anywhere on our servers after the response is returned. This page explains what minimal data we do handle and how.

2. What We Do NOT Collect

• We do not store the LinkedIn profile text you paste into the tool.
• We do not require account creation, email, or any personal information to use the service.
• We do not sell your data to any third party.
• We do not build user profiles or behavioral databases.
• We do not use cookies for tracking or advertising.

3. What We Do Collect

We collect the minimum necessary to operate the service:

3.1 Usage Limits (Local Storage)

To enforce daily roast limits (3 free roasts per day), we store a simple counter in your browser's localStorage. This data never leaves your device — it is not transmitted to our servers. It contains only: today's date and a count of roasts used. It is automatically cleared at midnight daily.

3.2 Session Storage

Your roast results are stored temporarily in your browser's sessionStorage to display results between pages. This data is automatically deleted when you close your browser tab. It is never sent to our servers after the initial roast generation.

3.3 API Request Logs

When you submit a profile for roasting, our server processes the request. Standard server logs (IP address, timestamp, request size) may be temporarily retained for security and abuse prevention purposes only. These logs do not contain the profile text content and are purged on a rolling basis.

4. Third-Party AI Processing

Profile text you submit is processed by Groq API (our AI provider) to generate the roast. This means your submitted profile text is temporarily processed by Groq's infrastructure. We recommend reviewing Groq's Privacy Policy for details on how they handle API request data. We do not submit any personally identifying information about you (the user) to Groq — only the profile text content you provide.

5. Profile Photos

If you optionally upload a profile photo, it is used only to display on your results page and roast download card. Photos are processed client-side in your browser and are stored only in your browser's sessionStorage for the duration of your session. They are not uploaded to or stored on our servers.

6. LinkedIn Data

RoastMyProfile.ai is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to LinkedIn Corporation. We do not use LinkedIn's API. You are manually copying and pasting publicly visible text from LinkedIn profiles. You are responsible for ensuring you have appropriate rights to share the profile text you submit, and that your use complies with LinkedIn's Terms of Service.

7. Share-to-Unlock Feature

When you use the “Share on LinkedIn to Unlock” feature, we open LinkedIn in a new tab and copy promotional text to your clipboard. We do not have access to your LinkedIn account, do not post on your behalf, and cannot verify whether you actually posted. Unlocking of additional roasts is done on an honor system — we record only a date-stamped flag in your browser's localStorage.

8. Children's Privacy

RoastMyProfile.ai is not intended for users under the age of 13. The “Unhinged” intensity mode is explicitly 18+ and contains adult language. We do not knowingly collect any information from users under 13. If you believe a child has used our service, please contact us.

9. Data Security

Given that we do not persistently store your profile data or personal information, security risks are minimal by design. API requests are transmitted over HTTPS (encrypted in transit). We do not maintain user databases that could be breached.

10. Your Rights

Because we do not store your personal data, most traditional data subject rights (access, deletion, portability) are automatically satisfied — there is nothing to access or delete on our servers.

To clear your local usage data, you can clear your browser's localStorage and sessionStorage at any time through your browser settings. To exercise any other rights or for any questions, contact us via LinkedIn (link in footer).

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the service evolves. The “Last Updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
